Frank McGothigan

Frank McGothigan

Chair, Board of Directors

Chief Information Security Officer, The Ford Foundation

Frank is passionate about technology, a passion that began in the 1990’s when the internet still came on a disk. He has spent the last 20 plus years focused on security and has helped many organizations defend and learn from cyber-attacks and various threats. Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, his focus was on helping academic health care organizations and start-ups be more security focused and create a culture of protecting sensitive and private information.

Since joining the Ford Foundation in 2017, Frank developed a comprehensive risk management program that not only provided a secure environment, but also allowed the institution to continue to be agile and supported the Ford Foundation’s mission at scale. He has been instrumental in increasing cybersecurity awareness and preparedness across the philanthropic sector and has assisted many of Ford’s partner organizations with developing a security program of their own. Frank also helped build the NGO-ISAC where other NGOs can turn to when they have a security emergency.
