Built for a team of one, or a hundred.

Membership is the decision to stop defending your organization alone.

Why it exists

Civil society organizations are targeted because of the work they do, by nation-state actors and criminals with far more resources than they have. Most face it with a small security team, or with one person doing security alongside everything else. Too many face it alone.

Membership changes that in one decision. It covers your whole organization, whatever its size, and puts everyone on your staff who touches security inside a community of more than 500 organizations that see what you see, a weekly briefing that tells you what is coming, and people who will sit with you until the work is done.

membership covers everyone on your staff

What membership opens

  • A seat in the room, where the people defending civil society compare notes every day, under a Code of Conduct that keeps what is shared inside. The community.
  • The Thursday briefing, so you know what is targeting organizations like yours and what to do about it on Monday.
  • Training, coaching, and one day a year with everyone in the room, so a team of one is never working from zero. Our programs.

Who can join

Registered 501(c)(3) organizations headquartered in the United States, of any size and any mission, and grant-making foundations on the same terms. Dues are set by organization size, and no eligible organization is turned away for inability to pay. Individuals who want to stay close to the community can join as Friends, and technology companies and service providers join through the Partner Program.

Applying takes about ten minutes. You hear from us within three to five business days, and most new members are in their first Thursday briefing within two weeks.

What you are joining

A community that gets safer with every organization that joins it, because the community sees what each member sees. One that has already stood beside Microsoft in federal court against a Russian state-backed group. One that is professionally staffed for the first time in its history and is only getting started. Most of civil society is still outside the room. We would like your organization to be inside it.
